HIGHLY RECOMMEND Nino and Lane Jewelers - and, I don't usually write reviews.
Let me tell you a few things that don't happen to you at Lane Jewelers:
- You will not fear for your safety, or worry that your jewels are going to be snatched by somebody in the huge crowds on 47th street.
- You will not be leered at by the men who stand in front of their stores and seem to look specifically for women to target.
- You will not be disresspected by people who seem surprised that you can read, let alone know the spot price of gold and silver.
- You will not be quoted a price that is 1/10th the value, nor laughed at when you point out that the weight of the metal alone is worth more.
After inheriting some pieces from my Mother and a recent divorce, I had some jewelry to sell. My google search pointed me in the direction of the diamond district. After spending two hours wandering into a handful of stores, I was dejected and any hopes I had of a positive experience had been eradicated. Nonetheless, I was on a mission to sell the jewelry and rid myself of the emotional attachment. I reasoned that if i was going to get taken for a ride, I might as well do it closer to home.
Back on google, I found Lane Jewelers in the Financial District. I did not have much hope, but Nino and Lane Jewelers not only surprised me, but left me impressed! The experience, the environment, and the customer service were so great that I returned twice within the week and felt compelled to write a review!
Nino is the lovely owner of this small store, tucked away on a FiDi street.
No crowds, no aggressive men trying to take advantage of women, and.... I wasn't looking over my shoulder every two seconds hoping that I wasn't about to get mugged. Great start! The store itself reminds me of the jewelers I grew up with in my little suburban town. Attention has been paid to the details - good lighting, pretty mirrors, and music playing.
I immediately felt comfortable and taken care of. Nino introduced himself and took the time to explain how he arrived at his prices. In my most recent visit around lunchtime, I was able to see firsthand that he must be doing something right. There was a revolving door of customers, all of whom Nino seemed to remember by name. He was short staffed that day but somehow managed to gracefully handle 8 customers with a smile, and even work some magic - sizing a wedding ring on the spot for a wedding anniversary. He even gave his recommendations to the very confused looking guy shopping for his wife's birthday gift.
If you want great customer service, a pleasant interaction, a beautiful selection of jewelry and fair prices for items that you are ready to sell- Lane Jewelers is the place! Definitely recommend!
